“Clifden Bridge reopening to be celebrated” NZHPT Media Release (25th October 2013)

NZHPT letterhead logo"An event to officially mark the reopening of the historic Clifden Suspension Bridge in Southland is to be held on Saturday 9 November."
"The reopening follows a major restoration project on the bridge, which is cared for by the New Zealand Historic Places Trust (NZHPT) and registered as a Category 1 Historic Place."
"It was opened on 5 April 1899 by Sir Joseph Ward, and remains the longest wooden suspension bridge in New Zealand." (more…)

Historic Places Canterbury (HPC) in conjunction with IConIC and Christchurch Civic Trust is staging an exhibition in the newly re-opened Cathedral Junction, which aims to celebrate heritage being saved and restored, spotlight heritage still under threat of demolition and commemorate the huge loss of listed heritage following the earthquakes.
Admission is free, no bookings required, open to public.
