Victorian Dream at Alberton
One of Auckland’s up-and-coming artists will feature some of her work in an exhibition at Alberton, the Mt Albert mansion cared for by the New Zealand Historic Places Trust (NZHPT).
Yvonne Abercrombie, who completed her final year of a Bachelor of Design and Visual Art at Unitec this year, will present a series of her original Victorian-inspired artworks in an exhibition entitled Victorian Dream which runs from January 10-26.
“Many of Yvonne’s paintings in this exhibition have been inspired by Victorian-era artists, and Yvonne presents a wonderfully modern take on their style – particularly with portraits and paintings of house interiors,” says the Manager of Alberton, Rendell McIntosh.
“Alberton, which celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2013, is the perfect venue for Yvonne’s exhibition – and her style of art in particular.”
The exhibition runs from January 10-26 (note Alberton is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays). Admission to Victorian Dreams is free, though people can explore Alberton for $10 per adult (school-aged children free).
