Mark Gerrard Spokesperson for “Victoria Square No Need For Change”:

“Victoria Square: No Need For Change welcomes Associate Minister Nicky Wagner’s statement that Christchurch Residents have stated clearly they want Victoria Square preserved as a tranquil green space with its history retained.”

“We are pleased that Associate Minister Nicky Wagner has acknowledged the Christchurch Residents will support “only small changes” to their beloved Victoria Square.”

“CCDU it should be noted has finally sought independent external advice by including Grant Edge (Landscape Architect and part of the original CCC Victoria Square Design Team) and Historian Dr. Geoff Rice in their Victoria Square Reference Group. Grant Edge and Dr Geoff Rice have an understanding of the significance of Victoria Square and why it is special to Christchurch Residents.”

Leave it alone.”

“Victoria Square: No Need For Change calls for Minister Nicky Wagner to acknowledge the clear message from the Christchurch Residents and instruct CCDU to start the maintenance of the park and the restoration of the Bowker Fountain. There is no need to waste anymore precious taxpayer resources on plans and endless meetings as the Christchurch Residents have clearly spoken they want their beloved Victoria Square retained, as is, and repaired.”
