Historic Places Central Otago AGM at Olivers, Clyde on Saturday September 14 @ 2pm (2013)

Dear Heritage Enthusiasts

2013 Historic Places Central Otago AGM

We invite you to join us at Olivers, Clyde on Saturday September 14 @ 2pm prompt for our Historic Places Central Otago AGM.

We also welcome non members to attend to get a feel for what we are doing and to meet other heritage enthusiasts who also share the vast world of Heritage that is Central Otago.

The venue again will be the wonderful historic precinct at Olivers courtesy of Andrea and David Ritchie.  There will also be a tour of the old barn which we saw in its raw state last year and is now the private residence of the Ritchie’s.  Andrea and David have offered to let us into their private world so you can see the true meaning of adaptive reuse of a registered Category I precinct.  This is a very unique opportunity so don’t miss it.

The AGM will have two guest speakers who are very complementary:

Shonagh Kenderdine is the Chairperson of New Zealand Historic Places Trust and a retired Environmental Court judge.
Otago born and bred she also has family now resident in Central Otago.  In addition to her role nationally in regard to heritage with HPT, she keeps a very close eye on heritage happenings in our neck of the woods and will be presenting some views about retaining heritage and in particular will comment on Bannockburn Hall.

Our other guest speaker is our very own Nick Taylor who is at the coalface of restoration with his property - Butlers Farm at Fruitlands.
Nick and Keith Hinds have just run a successful stonemasons course for HPCO and Nick will be showing the restoration to date on the stone buildings at Fruitlands.
